By virtue of their mission, long-cultivated expertise, and in-depth experience, Urban Serving Universities (USUs) are specially positioned to meet what the Boyer 2030 Commission called “the equity/excellence imperative” for 21st century undergraduate education. This webinar featured Portland State University President Ann Cudd, Wayne State University President Kimberly Andrews Espy, and University of Illinois Chicago Chancellor Marie Lynn Miranda, the leaders of three Urban Serving Universities whose commitment to undergraduate education is grounded in experience leading UG student learning and success initiatives. The webinar affords them the opportunity to share their respective visions for how USUs, including their own, can lead in this area. Special focus areas include the faculty role (per Boyer’s Scholarship Reconsidered) and USU’s role as “anchor institutions. This webinar was hosted by the Coalition of Urban Serving Universities in partnership with the Association for Undergraduate Education at Research Universities (UERU).
