UERU + Strada Town Hall: Work-Based Learning

Thursday, February 19, 2026| 2:00pm ETZoom Meeting

Today’s college students are leveraging work-based learning opportunities more than ever before to prepare themselves for careers post-graduation. These experiences, which include paid and unpaid internships, practica, undergraduate research, apprenticeships, co-ops, project-based learning, and on- and off-campus work, are all highly impactful for students. But what is the career value of each of these experiences, and how can colleges scale them to ensure access to all learners?

Join us for a special presentation from researchers and subject-matter experts at Strada, who have conducted nationally representative surveys of more than 40,000 seniors at 4-year public colleges and universities. Nichole Torpey-Saboe and Kevin Grubb will share key findings from their research and work with states and institutions and will facilitate discussion with UERU members about how to design and deliver work-based learning experiences that support students’ professional networking and skill development.

Teaching Evaluation Reform: The State of the Art

Thursday, March 5, 2026 | 1:00pm ET | Virtual Town Hall

As the authors of the 2026 Transforming College Teaching Evaluation: A Framework for Advancing Instructional Excellence (Harvard Education Press) note, “The need for better approaches to teaching evaluation has been percolating for years” (p. 2).

Please join Ann E. Ausitn, Noah D. Finkelstein, Andrea Follmer Greenhoot, Doug Ward, and Gabriela Cornnejo Weaver for a discussion of their new and arguably definitive statement on the subject, bolstered by years of research and experimentation at U.S. research universities and grounded in leading-edge theory.

The town hall will be moderated by Matthew Trevett-Smith, University of Delaware.

UERU Provost Group Discussion

Friday, March 11, 2026 | 12:00pm ET | Virtual Meeting

Join us for a discussion led by New York University Provost Georgina Dopico and UVP Mark Siegal on the Provost/UVP relationship. In addition to holding other senior roles throughout her career, from 2018 to 2022 Provost Dopico served as NYU’s Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, a former version of the position which Dr. Siegal now holds. This shared experience and expertise is part, but only part, of what undergirds Provost/UVP alignment at NYU, and, with other leaders, supports the effectiveness of Provost Office undergraduate initiatives.

This Provost Group Discussion is limited to provosts and UVPs and will not be recorded. Let's use the NYU case to consider how best to foster leadership effectiveness between provosts and UVPs. What are the main points of regular alignment? Are there systemic points of tension which might require attention? What goals might be more efficiently and effectively reached with enhanced working relationships? NYU has enjoyed a period of innovation and progress in undergraduate affairs. What helpful insights might we glean from this experience?
